I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t feel good to see that people have “liked” your social posts but likes should not be your only indicator of engagement as I explained in my blog post, "You're So Vain Was That Like Even About You" I warn of the dangers of relying on likes to track the effectiveness of your online marketing. So just in case you’ve been ignoring these warnings, and relying on those thumbs, or if you just want to learn how to boost your engagement I have some tips for you.
Whether you’ve tried Stories yet or not, this is a must do! Personally, I know that I have seen an increase in my engagements and reach by using Stories. I’m sure your next question is what do I post in my stories?
Here are some suggestions
Announcements - If you have a sale, reminders, and events or even BTS (Behind the Scenes) footage
Short Videos - Again BTS (Behind the Scenes) vids or even CTAs (Call to Actions)
Previews and Excerpts - Have an ebook on sale pop that page flipping bounce right in your story.
Post with Add-Ons - You shared it in your newsfeed but that doesn’t mean you can’t share it in your story with a sticker CTA or some other cool add-on
Poll your Audience - this is really easy and it even keeps track of the results in your insights
Being “liked” is never a bad thing but in order for your business to not just survive but thrive you should really have solid marketing metrics and established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure just how well your business is doing on social platforms.
